An Explanation of “One More Stone”
Fri, Jan 18, 2008
I wrote this song in Sunday School class one Sabbath morning. Although our lesson was not about this topic, my eye caught on the passages in Luke chapter 19 about the triumphal entry of our Savior into Jerusalem. When the Pharisees tried to rebuke Christ because His disciples were praising Him with a loud voice, He retorted that if the disciples were quiet, the stones would immediately cry out. The Lord was going to be praised right at that moment, whether it was from His disciples, or from stones, or some otherwise inanimate object. Nothing was going to stop the Savior from being praised, though. I got to day dreaming about a pile of stones singing praises of Him, and the spirit told me that I need to be like one of those stones. If the world keeps followers of Christ from speaking out, I need to be one of those stones, and call out in praise of Him. And I thought, “I am just one more stone in a world of stones that are too often silent. We stones need to speak out!”
Well, I started writing the song right there in Sunday School (I am sorry, Sister Moody, for not paying attention to your wonderful lesson just that one time). My wife gave me a nudge and “the look,” but I had to finish what was in my mind and heart. I later collaborated with my wonderful friend, John Fluker, and the song was born. I hope you, too, are a stone, and that we can sing His praises together!

Luke 19:35-40
I’m A Stone For Him!
The Pharisees Would Have Silenced Them
The Disciples Of The Lord
For They Praised God With Voices Loud
As A Witness To The World
But Christ Stood Firm Against Them All
And Said They’re Not Alone
For If These Ones Should Ever Hold Their Peace
Their Cries Would Come From Stones
CHORUS
Just One More Stone Crying Out
He Is God, Savior, Lord
Just One More Stone Who Can’t Be
Silenced Any More
Just One More Stone Standing Up
To The World I Will Sing
I Am Stone Praising Him
My Savior He’s My King
Just One More One More Stone
I’m One More One More Stone
Just One More One More Stone
The World Today Tries To Silence Us
The Disciples Of The Lamb
And Keep Us All From Raising Voices
For The Son Of Man
Now I’ll Stand Firm Against The World
And Raise My Voice For Christ
For I Am But One Stone Crying Out
For Him Who Dwells On High
CHORUS
Just One More One More Stone
I’m One More One More Stone
Just One More One More Stone
CHORUS
Can’t Be Silenced, Can’t Hold My Peace
‘Cause He’s My Lord, My King, My Everything
One More Stone
We’re One, We’re Two, We’re Here To Say
We Love You Lord, We’ll Praise You Always, One More
Hey! Said One More, One More, One More
One More Stone
